MOT Pontarddulais

Our New MOT Testing Bay

We are delighted to announce that we are in the process of having a new MOT bay installed in our Pontarddulais depot, allowing us to carry out Class 4 MOT tests in-house.

The following list of vehicles are tested under class 4:

  • Cars with up to 8 passengers
  • Dual Purpose Vehicles (vehicles designed to carry both passengers and goods, weighing no more than 2,040kg)
  • Motorised caravans/ camper vans
  • Private passenger vehicles with 9-12 passenger seats
  • Taxis and ambulances
  • Three-wheeled vehicles over 450kg (curb weight)
  • Quad bikes up to 400kg (curb weight) or for goods vehicles 500kg (curb weight) and a maximum net power of 15kw.

Our Pontarddulais premises will be offering Class 4 MOTs at exceptional prices from Monday to Saturday by appointment. You can leave your vehicle with us whilst we carry out the MOT, and we’ll call to let you know once it’s complete.

MOT testing is a legal requirement on all vehicles over the age of three years. MOT tests check that vehicles are safe and roadworthy and check that they meet current environmental standards. Class 4 MOTs are suitable for cars, small vans and motor caravans up to 3,000kg.

MOTs thoroughly look at many parts of your car, van or motorhome to ensure they meet the essential legal requirements at the time of the test. If your vehicle fails to meet any of the conditions, it will fail the MOT, and the law requires you to fix these issues before driving the vehicle again.

As well as carrying out Class 4 MOTs, we are also able to carry out any repairs required to meet MOT standards. Repairs include mechanical repairs, diagnostic fault finding, electrical repairs, brake repairs, tyre repairs, tyre replacement and much more.

Did you know you can MOT your vehicle four weeks before the expiry of your current certificate? The responsibility for ensuring a vehicle has a current MOT lies with the registered vehicle owner. If you are unsure when your MOT expires, you can check it on our website using just your vehicle registration.

It’s important not to let your current MOT expire as police and mobile camera units can check remotely using a system to see if your vehicle has a current MOT. If your MOT has expired, it is illegal to drive it, and you could be subject to a fixed £60 penalty, a fine of up to £1,000 and between 6 and 8 penalty points added to your driving license.

At Trostre Tyres, we fully guaranteed the work we complete and carry it out following main car dealer guidelines. Our work, therefore, does not affect your vehicle’s warranty. Our highly experienced technicians ensure all work is carried out to the highest of standards and will always offer you the choice of a cheaper repair option if available, as a matter of course.
